While the free-to-air and pay-TV markets remain robust, digital platforms are creating opportunities for production, distribution and consumption while Mexico’s young population drives a mobile and digital-focussed economy.

Netflix maintains a leading presence in the OTT space while Televisa’s Blim is increasing its

market share.

Lawyers say the regulation of OTT services, essentially the regulation of the internet, means a review of net neutrality, freedom of expression and consumer rights.

At the start of 2017, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allowed the increased foreign ownership of Spanish-language broadcaster Univision by TV powerhouse Grupo Televisa.
